See, I told you it was ghetto
Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers were evacuated from a movie theater after of a bomb threat interrupted a private screening of the Pittsburgh Steelers Superbowl XL Championship DVD.
Just after 8 p.m., a man called in the threat to Pittsburgh Police. The caller had a male voice and made no reference to the Steelers.
Police evacuated the entire theater immediately. Because of the location of their vehicles, the Steelers players were evacuated first.
Bomb sniffing dogs were brought in by the Allegheny County Police to check out the theater.
The DVD was still playing when the theater was evacuated.
West Homestead Police Chief Chris Deasy said that the person who called in the threat said, “There is a bomb going to go off in the Loew’s Theater” and that there wasn’t any mention of the Steelers being targeted in the threat.
In all, approximately 1,000 people were evacuated from 20 movie theaters. Among those attending were Jerome Bettis, Antwaan Randle El, Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Franco Harris.
Officials say that there were about 10 bomb threats called in when the theater was first opened.
The person responsible for the threat could face charges for filing a false report.
No bomb was fond on the premises.
